SLA’s Walking Tour of the Lower Upper West Side 2024. 

Invitation: "A West Side Story: A Walking Tour of the Lower Upper West Side"  

Licensed tour guide and former librarian, Leigh Hallingby, will walk us through the Upper West Side from West 59th Street, where it begins, to West 77th Street. Our journey will include exploring the vast transformation of 2 parts of the neighborhood: Lincoln Center (former residential area) and Riverside South (former NY Central freight railroad yards). Along the way we will also focus on two major monuments to the American Civil Rights Movement. And we will see some wonderful parts of vintage New York. We will learn more about two great Upper West Side museums: the American Museum of Natural History and the New-York Historical Society. 

MEETING PLACE: 

Deutsche Bank Center (formerly Time Warner Center), 10 Columbus Center, inside at the top of the Whole Foods escalator
Take 1/A/C/D subway lines to Columbus Circle/59th Street                              

ENDING PLACE: West 77th Street
