Previously awarded LLAGNY Grants and Scholarships 2020

LLAGNY has long been committed to assisting its members in achieving their professional goals. LLAGNY members support their colleagues through grants to enhance learning and career advancement.

The scholarship and grant application period has begun.

If you are interested in the scholarships or grants listed on this page, please email your completed application to [email protected] by no later than 5:00 pm on May 15, 2020. If your requested conference takes place before May 15, 2020, please submit your application two months in advance of the conference.

Conference Grants

Please note the following events may take place virtually as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic. Awarded grants will be adjusted to reflect actual costs if the event is hosted online

  • AALL Conference Grant: Up to $150.00
    • The event titled "Unmasking Our Potential" will be hosted virtually July 13th-17th. Register here
  • AALL & PLLIP Conference Grant: Up to $2,600.00
    • Event takes place in July; the PLLIP Summit precedes the AALL Conference.
  • ILTACON Conference Grant: Up to $3,500.00
    • Event takes place in August in Nashville, TN.
  • Other conference or event grant as approved: Up to $2,300.00
    • Suggested conferences include ARK Group annual Law Firm Libraries or Knowledge Management events, annual SLA conference, or others.

One member will receive a grant to cover the costs of attendance at the AALL Conference.  One member will receive a grant to cover the costs of attendance at both the AALL Conference and the PLL Summit. One member will receive a grant to cover the costs of attendance at ILTACON. Upon LLAGNY Board discretion, one additional member may receive a grant to cover the cost of attendance at a relevant industry conference or event.

Hardship Grants

  • Hardship Grant to cover the cost of LLAGNY membership: $50.00
    • Annual grant awarded to members in need so that they may benefit from LLAGNY membership

Hardship Grant information and criteria:

  • Hardship Grant recipients will be notified no later than July 15, 2020.
  • LLAGNY has a strong commitment to diversity & inclusion in its membership and to the law librarian profession. We strongly encourage LBGTQIA+, women, disabled members (includes hidden & visible) and members of all other underrepresented groups to apply.
  • Hardship Grant recipients are required to write a Law Lines article about a topic of their choice or about their participation in a LLAGNY function over the course of the year.
  • Applicants must have demonstrated a commitment to librarianship, based on employment history, membership in LLAGNY, involvement in LLAGNY and/or AALL, and attendance at LLAGNY functions.
  • Previous grant and scholarship recipients are eligible to apply.

  • Include your name, business or mailing address, telephone, and email address.
  • Please note whether or not you have previously received a LLAGNY grant or scholarship and if yes, the year and name of grant.
  • List your employment and relevant experience in professional organizations or activities.
  • Include a short personal statement about why this grant will benefit you professionally.

Library School Scholarships

  • New Student (Type One) Scholarship: $2,000.00   
    • One scholarship of this type will be given to one student this year.
  • Experienced Student (Type Two) Scholarship: $2,500.00
    • One scholarship of this type will be given to one student this year.
